I have been slow to get started on my Christmas cards this year. I finally did get cards made for my friends back in Iowa. I made a card that I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s blog. You can find the tutorial here. I have to say I learned quite a bit making these cards. They aren’t something that you can just quickly put together. At least for me they weren’t. I have to say I love how they turned out! I have used parts of the technique I learned on several other cards.
It’s to bad you can’t see the shimmer on the colored parts. It is well worth giving this technique a try. Even with the learning curve it makes a beautiful card! I won’t give you any directions as you can watch the video. Do give it a try. The colored parts are all texture paste through a stencil.
I have a few more cards to post yet before Christmas so see you soon.
I wish you all a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
As always appreciate your stopping and visiting for a while.
I have another card. Shocking isn’t it! 🙂 I have looked at this Mo Manning “Summer Girl” for a couple of years and thought this would be the “perfect” image for Sydney! She has the little pigtails and wears adorable little sundresses. Even looks like her. I finally bought the image a couple of weeks ago. So here she is.

Thanks for stopping and visiting and leaving some love. Have a great weekend.
Usually I just make Mady a card because Drew is one of her Godparents. I keep hearing how excited Sydney gets when Mady gets her card. Since we saw both little sweeties this Summer when we all got together for my birthday in August. I decided to make her one too. Also sent some Halloween cards to my nephew’s two sweeties. Saw them this Summer too for the first time in a loooong time.
Just a quick story from this Summer. We had hiked down to a beautiful waterfall in the Black Hills. Steep with lots of roots, wet and slippery. Should give you an idea how treacherous the trip up was. Jacob was holding my hand the whole time. Going as fast as a young kid can, dragging me behind. :o) We get to the top and I’m panting trying to get my breath back. Jacob stops and looks at me and asks, “do you want to run now”? Between laughing and gasping for breath I said, “no, I don’t want to run now”. He looks at me and says, “that’s ok I’ll walk with you”. You just have to love to the little guy! 🙂
Anywho here is Sydney’s Halloween card. I used Treats from Saturated Canary. It was fun coloring her with her green skin.
Here is Mady’s card. I used Hazel digi from Wee Stamps. It’s been so long ago I think this is where I bought it from.
Now, I have to get started with Christmas cards. Still am working on my Wine Journal and 60th Birthday Trip book. When I get some images colored I’ll post them.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a little love.

I had a lot of fun making this card for Randy. I knew exactly what I wanted to do for it. I did have to experiment a little before I got it right.
I used pretty much all tim Holtz stuff for the card. The background is TH “On the Go” texture fades. I used the “Fresh Brewed” die set using acetate for the cup. I used acrylic paint on the back to get the coffee color. I also used the frosting from the cupcake stamp set for caramel-laced whipped cream. For the straw I used an actual Starbucks straw and ran in through the machine with the “Fresh Brewed” die. I also used a square punch for the ice cubes and dabbed white acrylic on the squares.
We went to the Black Hills in South Dakota for a three-day weekend for Father’s Day. It started out pretty hairy. For most of the 6 hour drive down there we had tornado warnings, grapefruit size hail and 90mph winds. Luckily, we were about 20 miles north of all this. Still made it hairy as at one point it was coming directly at us. We took the fast route down that way has two towns! Pretty much in the wide-open space and nowhere to go. Arrived safe and sound!
We had a wonderful time and the smell of pine was just amazing!!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping!
I had so much fun making Madyson’s birthday card. This card suits her to a tee. She loves the outdoors! I have quite a few pics today so will get right at it.
A side view so you can see the dimension of it.
Last weeks DLP was using “under paper.” I use old brown paper bags so didn’t have paper. I do use a lot of baby wipes that I have spread out to dry. Journal Prompt was “what lies beneath”. I decided that I would go with the theme of the masks we hide behind. My right page is of a Mardi Gras mask. I used a feather die to cut feathers out of my baby wipes. Then strings for the mask. That was a lot harder as the wipes like to rip easily. My left page is a poem I found on the internet that I feel is too personal to share. Hence, I covered it up.
I have three Valentine’s to show you in a few days. I had a blast coloring again! I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day! I will be enjoying my beautiful roses Randy brought for me today at noon.
As always thank you for stopping and visiting with for a while and for leaving some love.
The beginning of June has a lot of birthdays in my family and for friends too. I was late for both that I sent cards to. I’m very good at procrastination. 😦 It really got me moving when we received a card from Linda on the day that was her birthday! We ALL loved the card. A beautiful card with Tim Holtz’s large butterfly on it! We’re hanging on to hope by our fingertips. So thank you Linda for the encouragement. Know that it was appreciated! It’s sitting on the mantle.
Here’s Linda’s Birthday card.
I really had fun making this card. They color up so quickly. As usual it takes longer to decide how to finish the card. I have to say this is the first card I ever tore totally apart and redid. I liked it 100% better so I’m glad I did it.

I have another card I’ll be working on this week. It only took Drew and I all day Saturday to get it figured out how to make a JPEG a PNG. All the directions we found on-line would work up to a certain point. Finally, figured out I had to color the transparent part in by hand. Not fun! It was an old image before companies sent a PNG & JPEG or just a PNG. Time will tell how it will look colored up. I’m pretty excited to see how it does.
As always thank you for looking and leaving a little love for me.
Have a great week everyone!
