Summer Fun

by Myrna Irwin

Well, life has settled into a routine around here. No more spilled drinks in the morning. That’s a good thing. (See previous post about that disaster). Decided that waving good-bye was better for all than the hug. I prefer the hug but do not have any desire to scrub the floor any more often than I have to. Hubby came home at noon that day and said he had something on his pants. OOPS! Probably the coffee that spilled on his computer bag. Anyway, June is a month of birthdays for us. Both my sisters have birthdays one day apart. My oldest sister’s is first. I actually have it done early that is a record for me!

I made a birthday card using both Tilda and Edwin riding their bikes. Many happy memories doing that growing up. In fact, it was my sister that taught me how to ride my (her hand-me-down) bike. On to the card.

Click on the picture to enlarge it.

It really isn’t orange paper or coloring. But you can only take so many pictures before you start pulling out your hair. I took pictures in front of every window in the house and the best color was still in the dark with my Ott-Lite and flash.

Here is the inside of the card.

Here are the stats for my card.

  • Stamps:  Magnolia-Tilda & Edwin on bikes, beach flowers/Lazy Summer Days Collection ’09 Printworks sentiment
  • Paper:  Imagine That-teal, BG max & whiskers/abbott inside of the card is the backside of the front
  • Punches:  Family Treasures-bicycle, EK Success-chain
  • Nestie:  Label 2

  21. Terrific!!!!!!!! What a birthday card surprise!! (Was disappointed that I was out of town the day it arrived)!! Brought back our childhood memories of my first aqua bike that I received for my 10th birthday. I had to do a scavenger hunt to find it and I was so delighted and completely surprised when I opened the door of our red shed and there was my NEW BIKE!!!! Back in those days we were so thrilled to receive one birthday gift and LOVED and TREASURED whatever gift our parents purchased for us for our special day! And Myrna Lynn-I thought you received a blue bike or was that sister Deb’s bike??? (You have made up for it now with your new cars, ha)!! The bicycle punch is adorable-we have to set a date to get some scrapbooking in one of these summers. Wouldn’t it be a dream come true if Deb, Nikki, Madyson and I could come to Oskaloosa for a week next summer and just do scrapbooking and photo albums??? DREAMS-that’s what keeps us going!!! THANKS SO MUCH for the beautiful birthday card and especially for all your love tucked into a card that took me on a walk down memory lane and reminded me that MEMORIES are like keepsakes always to be treasured. My birthday card is filled with bits of our loving, childhood days-PRECIOUS!! The chain on the inside reminds me of the chains that broke for some odd reason and the oil from the chain that we could somehow manage to get on our legs. Our dear mother always assured us that we could easily wash it off or she could get it out of our clothes. And then there is the Nikki story of her first bike!! Rick and I will NEVER live that one down will we?? We have certainly made up for it since haven’t we??

Have a great weekend and I can already visualize you in your scrapbooking room creating your 4th of July card. Madyson has her first swimsuit and tiny sunglasses for her day on the pontoon.
    Lots of Love,
    #1 Sis,
